          Description

The clothing industry is unfortunately a major factor in environmental issues today. Affecting aspects such as carbon emissions, water pollution, water scarcity, deforstation, and much more, the sustainable development of fashion is necessary to tackle the world's biggest problems. Solutions to this particular issue are varied, but the first step in tackling this problem is by actually using what we put to waste. Creating brands (ex. Eco-Couturier) that sell fabrics which are eco-friendly, recycled, organic, or all of the above, can help promote the way of sustainable clothing. Organic materials such as cotton can be made to make jeans as well as shirts, and special fibers such as polyester can be made from recycled plastic to produce sweaters and fleeces. Not only does the clothing have to be sustainable, but also targeted towards popular fashion trends so that consumers would want to buy it. Having consumers attracted to the type of clothing a brand sells is essential, as well as making it affordable for many, which is a problem many brands like these face. Promotion through social media and the internet, as well as the issue of environmental concerns related to fashion will not only encourage customers to buy the products, but also create awareness towards the issue.
